Pure essential oils are highly concentrated, potent substances and act quickly in the body. One drop of pure essential oil often represents the potency of one ounce of plant material which will gives you an idea of the potency and their healing potential, therefore less is more and consistent low doses are safest and most effective. Repeated applications may be required, especially when treating acute disorders that require keeping a constant level of essential oil active in the body.
Essential oils are made from compounds that have antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-viral, analgesic and immune-stimulating properties and have been proven effective against fungi, yeast, parasites and viruses. Others fight infection with amazing effectiveness, killing bacteria by disrupting their life cycle. Many pure essential oils repair injured cells while others help carry away metabolic waste. In addition, a number of essential oils enhance immunity, working with the body to heal itself. They are capable of stimulating the production of phagocytes (white blood cells that attack invaders), and some are antitoxic for insect bites and stings. Other aromatherapy benefits are circulatory stimulants and hormone precursors, as well as being muscle relaxants or digestive tonics. Most pure essential oils lower the pH of the blood slightly, creating an inhospitable environment for bacteria, which thrive in an alkaline environment.
